How do you represent a city without falling into a cliché?

When you think of Napoli you usally think of the sea, the Vesuvius, the Pizza or, if you dig a bit deeper, Pulcinella, Saint Gennaro.
There is a street in Napoli that divides the city in half, it's as ancient as the city itself, as it is the roman Decumanus Inferiore, and it's know as Spaccanapoli, but it's actually called Via Benedetto Croce.
